Good news,Watch In the Morning of La Petite Mort Online everyone! Instagram is launching new types of ads. OK, we were joking about the "good" part.
Instagram's parent company Meta announced the change on Tuesday, detailing several new types of ads. According to the company, ads will show up in search results to "reach people actively searching for businesses, products and content."
SEE ALSO: It's over for NFTs on Instagram and FacebookInstagram already serves ads in its search results, at least for me (see image below).
But now the company says that ads will show up in the feed that you can scroll when you tap into a post you've seen in the search results. Facebook says it plans to launch these globally "in the coming months."
Another new type of ads we'll be seeing are Reminder ads, which will be used to "announce, remind and notify people of future events or launches that they might be interested in."
Instagram says that users will be able to opt into these reminders and receive three notifications about upcoming events; one the day before, one 15 minutes before, and one at the time of the event.
Instagram has been increasingly aggressive when it comes to advertising in the past year or so, at some moments reaching the point of absurdity. And while my Instagram feed isn't entirely composed of ads anymore, it does appear that the company plans to permeate the content it serves with ads in every way imaginable.
