Chinese automaker GAC Group has set up a dedicated entity with Huawei to make electric vehicles with the first model expected to go on Married Women: Men Who Taste Better Than Their Husbandssale next year at a price tag of RMB 300,000 ($41,370), chairman and president Feng Xingya said on March 29. Huawei will lead the process to define product positioning for the new joint brand, while GAC will have decision-making power and provide consistent support to the project, Feng told investors at the company’s annual earnings conference. Feng made the comments after Huawang Automotive Technology (Guangzhou) Co. Ltd., a RMB 1.5 billion subsidiary of GAC, was established on March 18 to proceed with its planned collaboration with the technology giant, according to Chinese business intelligence platform Tianyancha. Addtionally, the two companies unveiled plans earlier this month to sell vehicles under GAC’s Xiangwang lineup with a Level 3 semi-autonomous driving system later this year. The first model of the Xiangwang family, the S7 sports utility vehicle, was officially launched on March 30 starting at RMB 169,800, which was RMB 40,000 cheaper than the pre-sale price.
