Look out world—one of America's most influential media proprietors, hot sex video talk show hosts, actresses, and philanthropists is about to become one of its most watched news reporters, too.
On Tuesday, CBS News executive producer Jeff Fager announced Oprah Winfrey as a special contributor to the network's very own 60 Minutes.
That's a huge deal.

"I’ve been a big admirer of 60 Minutessince my days as a young reporter," Oprah stated in a news release. "I’m so excited and proud to join forces with this historic news program, which for me represents the bastion of journalistic storytelling."
Amongst President Trump's constant insults and skepticism towards the media, news networks and publications are in the midst of some seriously challenging times. Thus, it makes sense for CBS to show interest in someone with Oprah's level of celebrity—someone with experience, credibility, respect, and (critically) past presidential praise.

An intelligent business woman, actress, and straight-up wildly influential woman, Oprah's got the power to provide a unique and impassioned commentary around many of the debates and issues pertaining to race, gender equality, immigration, and ethics that have been given rise in the public eye since Trump and his administration have taken office.
"There is only one Oprah Winfrey. She has achieved excellence in everything she has touched," Fager said in the release. "Her body of work is extraordinary, including thousands of interviews with people from all walks of life. She is a remarkable and talented woman with a level of integrity that sets her apart and makes her a perfect fit for 60 Minutes. I am thrilled that she will be bringing her unique and powerful voice to our broadcast."
While Oprah endorsed Hillary in the 2016 election, back in November during an appearance on Entertainment Tonight, Oprah made a somewhat unexpected comment on President Obama's White House meeting with Trump.

"It gave me hope... to hear President-Elect Trump say he had respect for President Obama, it felt he had reached a moment where he was actually humbled by that experience ... I think everybody can take a deep breath," she said, sparking controversy amongst fans.
Oprah may have been hopeful at the time, but in the little over a week since Trump's inauguration, he's singled out his fair share of controversial executive orders on border security and immigration, the Affordable Care Act, and a withdrawal from the Trans-Pacific Partnership, among others.

"At a time when people are so divided," Oprah wrote, "my intention is to bring relevant insight and perspective, to look at what separates us, and help facilitate real conversations between people from different backgrounds."
There's no denying Oprah's giant, loyal following, so using the massive platform that is 60 Minutesto speak on topical issues will likely draw a substantial crowd to the network when Oprah makes her first appearance on the Sunday night broadcast, when she makes her debut on it this fall.
