It's a good day to be sex and eroticism in mesopotamian literaturethe gorgeously talented breakout star of Spike Lee's She's Gotta Have It, DeWanda Wise. Aside from the news that the Netflix show is getting a second season, she's also joining the star-studded cast of Captain Marvel in a role opposite Oscar-winning actress Brie Larson.
Deadline broke the news in an exclusive, but details on her role or plot details for the upcoming superhero flick are scarce. With Anna Boden-Ryan Fleck at the helm as director and A-List movie stars like Samuel L. Jackson and Jude Law in the cast, she'll certainly be in good company. According to IMDB, Captain Marvelis slated for release in 2019.
Wise's casting is well-deserved after she earned ample praise for her role as Nola Darling. Rising out of relative obscurity to star in Lee's Netflix series, she now joins an elite group of movie actors to land the goldmine that is the Marvel Universe.
Now, if that's not starting 2018 with a bang, we don't know what is.
